Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Kickstarter

I don’t consider myself a huge fan of Castlevania but I do remember loving the game and spending many hours playing the game on my old 8-Bit TV console. So when I heard news about the series producer Koji Igarashi going on Kickstarter to raise funds for his upcoming video game, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, I decided to back it. This is after all the first time I backed a game on Kickstarter.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is based on the player-character named Miriam who finds her blood is cursed and is slowly turning to crystal. To remove the curse she faces the challenges of a monster-filled castle with the help of Gebel, her companion who is similarly afflicted but for a much longer time.

The game will be presented in a 2.5D style, presenting the game in three-dimensional graphics but restricting movement to a 2D system. Koji Igarashi stated the choice for 2.5D was that it follows in the style of his previous Castlevania games.
Koji Igarashi brought the game to Kickstarter after failing to get funding from more than twenty publishers. They thought nobody will be interested in this kind of game anymore. Well, the project reached is goal of US$500,000 within hours and US$2 million within 2 days.
If you are interested, do check out the Kickstarter project. The game is expected to be ready in March 2017.
