Windows 10 available as a free upgrade on 29 July 2015

Microsoft just announced that Windows 10 will be available beginning 29 July 2015 in 190 markets globally as a free upgrade to devices running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Users will have one year from 29 July 2015 to take advantage of the free upgrade. Once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device—at no cost.
Microsoft is now asking Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to reserve a copy of Windows 10 via a prompt that looks like a Start button icon in the notification area on your taskbar. Once you reserved a copy, the system will download Windows 10 when it is available and notify you when it is ready to install.
Note that the free upgrade applies only to Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1. Those running Windows RT or RT 8.1 will not be getting the upgrade.
