As part of the SG50 celebration, LEGO Singapore is encouraging fans to rebuild and relive memories to celebrate the Singaporean spirit. LEGO is showcasing the winning entries of the LEGO Rebuild Your Memories competition at Raffles City Shopping Centre Atrium, Level 3.
The highlights at the event is the 8.5 feet tall LEGO Dragon Playground by Singapore’s and Asia’s only LEGO Certified Professional, Nicholas Foo. I was at the event last Saturday to witness Nicholas putting the final touches to the iconic Dragon Playground.
What a beautiful piece of art.
The 8.5 feet tall, 10 feet long LEGO Dragon Playground uses over 22,000 pieces of bricks. Building it took more than 32 hours. Luckily for Nicholas, members of public were there to help out by building parts which will be added to the main structure. The centre of the Dragon Playground is hollow with metal frame support in the middle.
Besides the Dragon Playground, LEGO also showcased the winning entries of the LEGO Rebuild Your Memories competition. Here are some of my favourite.
The Mama Shop
Aquarium in the mall
Nostalgic Chinatown Street Scene
The LEGO SG50 Rebuild Your Memories Event is now happening at Raffles City Shopping Centre Atrium, Level 3 until end of July. Hurry. This is your only chance to check out the LEGO Dragon Playground.

There’s nothing wrong with the title. And no, Esplanade is not becoming a hotel. But on the eve of National Day, the stage will be done up to look like a Singaporean apartment in the ’60s. The SG50 team, in partnership withAirbnb and the Esplanade, is looking for SG50’s biggest fan to win a staycation at the Esplanade. The winner can also bring along 3 guests. Check out the Airbnb entry.
But it’s not just about a sleepover. During the stay, you will have a chance to perform on stage. There will also be an exclusive tour of the Esplanade where you get visit the Concert Hall, hallowed backstage corridors and more. And if that’s not enough, you and your 3 guests will get tickets to watch the National Day Parade at the Padang on National Day.
All you need to do is submit a 15 seconds video wishing Singapore Happy Birthday. The most creative video wins. Visit the SG50 Facebook page for more info.
