DK’s Tech prediction for 2015 – Results

It’s the end of 2015. As per tradition, let’s have a look at my 2015 predictions and see how badly I’ve done this year. Lol.
Apple Watch will start a wearable craze
Apple Watch was launched this year. It did start a mini craze. But not as much as I’ve predicted. I guess even Apple didn’t crack the wearable puzzle yet.
Windows 10 given as a free update to Windows 8 users
I was right. Not only was Windows 10 given as a free update to Windows 8 users, it is given free to all Windows users as long as their hardware support the new OS. This is a pretty interesting move by Microsoft.
BlackBerry exit smartphone business
That did not happen. Not only that, BlackBerry released an Android phone recently. Oh wait. Isn’t that my 2014 prediction?
Microsoft to release an Android phone
Nope, that did not happen. Maybe it will happen next year like my prediction for BlackBerry. Lol.
More under S$200 smartphone to challenge Xiaomi
I was kinda disappointed that this did not happen.
APS-C point and shoot camera
I did say this is a wild prediction. Nope, did not happen. On a side note, the Sony RX100 Mark IV is amazing. Maybe 1 inch sensor for point and shoot is good enough.
Another company become victim of a major security breach
We had several security breaches. But don’t recall any major ones. Certainly nothing as big as Sony Pictures hack.
Apple Pay comes to Singapore
I should do this prediction for 2016. I’m a year too early.
Singapore government to regulate the use of drones
The Singapore Parliament passed the Unmanned Aircraft (Public Safety and Security) Bill in May this year but not many people know about it. I expect more education on this as drones get more popular in the coming year.
Cyber Monday become a big thing in Singapore
We do see more hype over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But still not as big as I’ve predicted. Maybe it will take a few more years.
OK lah. This year’s prediction wasn’t that bad. Will be back for 2016 prediction soon.
