Auld Lang Syne

I went to see a fortune teller recently. He said that if 2019 is a bad year for me, then 2020 will be even worse. In fact, I will reach my rock bottom this coming year. Honestly, I don’t know if my fortune can go even worse than what I’m experiencing now. But hey, bring it on.

I’m still wondering how all these are going to connect the dots in the future. But they say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. And probably makes a great story too. Let’s hope there will be people interested in hearing my story when I grow old.

I’ve been thinking about doing new year resolutions. After all, its a new decade. And I’m turning 40 next year. Maybe this will be a good time for some resolutions. But the thing about new year resolutions is that they don’t work for me. I’ll most likely forget about them before February arrives. Maybe one of my new year resolutions should be keeping my new year resolutions.

A part of me doesn’t really look forward to 2020. But nobody can stop time. It might be another difficult year. It might be the year I hit rock bottom if the fortune teller is accurate. But sometimes you need to hit rock bottom in order to bounce back. At least I’m not alone on this journey. And that’s good enough.

So cheers to the new decade. Bring on the challenge. And see you on the other side.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
