We all heard about the shortage of medical supplies due to the Covid 19 crisis. Some hospitals are running out of personal protective equipment (PPE) for their healthcare workers. We need to do something to protect the healthcare workers so that they can continue doing their jobs without fears of getting infections.

One of the many solutions is using 3D printers to produce parts and equipment needed to fight the Covid 19. 3D printers can be used to make face shields. There’s also stories about people using 3D printers to make replacement parts for ventilator.

Here in Singapore, a 3D printing company is seeking donations to print face shields for healthcare workers. Siege Advanced Manufacturing has more than 50 3D printers and can manufacture hundreds of face shields per day. They will be donating the face shields to hospitals in Johor Bahru.

Check out the GoGetFunding page and help spread the words. The donation goes into obtaining the clear plastic, elastic band, and running cost of manufacturing the face shields. They need SGD$13,000 to make 2000 face shields.

Dyson just announced a new haircare product recently. The Dyson Corrale is a hair straightener which uses flexing plates to style hair. Suitable for all hair types, it features Dyson’s Intelligent Heat Control for precise temperatures.

Unlike traditional straighteners, the unique flexing plates of the Dyson Corrale straightener mould to shape and gather the hair, giving the user greater control and therefore elevating the styling results, whilst reducing the reliance on heat. As the plates adapt to the hair, they apply tension more evenly and stop strands splaying. This greater control allows outstanding styles to be created with less reliance on heat.

The Dyson Corrale straightener has three precise heat settings – 165°C, 185°C and 210°C. Using a platinum sensor, the temperature is measured 100 times a second to deliver precise, accurate heat.

And the best part about the Dyson Corrale is that it is cordless. The built-in 4-cell lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 minutes of styling and takes 70 minutes to fully charge. You can charge it by using the magnetic charging cable or placing in a charging dock.

We don’t have the Singapore launch date and pricing for the Dyson Corrale yet. I’ll update this blog when I get them.
