GameStart 2018 will be happening this weekend, 13 & 14 October 2018, at Suntec Convention Centre. This is the 5th year that GameStart is bringing exciting content for everyone, including game showcases and previews, tabletop gaming, esports, indie games, retro gaming, and cosplay. Esports fans can gear up for exciting competition as SEA Major (SEAM) 2018 plays host to more international tournaments. Mobile esports also takes centerstage as SEA Mobile Major (SEAMM) plays host to the very first Shadowverse Contenders Cup for the Southeast Asia & Oceania region.
SEA Major (SEAM) 2018, one of the largest fighting game tournaments in Asia, returns to GameStart 2018 bigger and better! Expect to see high-level tournament action, as top players from around the world convene to fight for over USD 60,000 in prizes! This year is extra special, as SEA Major will play host pitstops for four major events – the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals, Tekken World Tour Master event, one of only 7 Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour SAGA events, and the only ArcRevo World Tour event announced for Southeast Asia.
The inaugural Shadowverse SEAO Contenders Cup, where the top 4 players in the South East Asia Oceania (SEAO) Region fight for the right to represent the region at the Shadowverse World Grand Prix in Japan, for a top prize of USD 1,000,000, will also be held during GameStart 2018.

GameStart 2018 will see its most diverse offerings to date, with mobile and PC games having a bigger presence at the convention. Exhibitors and sponsors for GameStart 2018 include The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, who will be exhibiting at GameStart for the first time, Japanese mobile giant Cygames; Mihoyo, publisher of popular mobile game Honkai Impact 3; WB Games, Taipei Game Show, Battlebrew Productions, 3DSense and gaming apparel brand Xmashed Gear. Returning fan favourites such as the GameStart TableTop, GameStart Cosplay Runway and Doujin Market, Singapore’s largest community curated youth arts and illustration fair.

The Star Wars Run returns on 5th May (Revenge of the Sith Day) at the F1 Pit Building and Marina Bay Area. There are 3 race categories this year, the inaugural 540m Young Jedi Dash, 5.4km non-competitive run and a 10km competitive run.

Fans can look forward to limited edition collectibles and merchandise specially launched for this year’s event. Ranging between S$12.90 and S$29.90, the collectibles include the Star Wars Run Singapore 2018 Umbrella, 55-cm Electronic Light Saber (in Red, Blue and Green), as well as the special edition pins in a variety of designs. The collectibles are available for registered participants to purchase via the online store.

For the first time ever in Singapore, watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens on a giant screen with more than 70 orchestral musicians playing the soundtrack live on stage. Created by five-time Academy Award-winning composer John Williams, the epic music will take on a new dimension when played live with the movie projected on the big screen, with all of its dialogue and sound effects.

The Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention 2017 is happening this weekend at Marina Bay Sands. Happening between 9 and 10 September, STGCC promises an entertaining weekend of pop culture and comic wonderland for both fun-loving families and passionate gamers, featuring the best of local and international toys, games, comics, anime and collectibles, topped with an exciting line-up of guests and personalities.

On top of the usual line-up of activities, STGCC will also be introducing new zones such as Star Wars: Experience the Force @ STGCC to get fans excited about the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Explore an entire zone specially dedicated to Star Wars at STGCC, where fans will be offered the chance to get up close and personal with fan-built vehicle replicas, games, releases and collectibles. Be transported to a galaxy far, far away and check out the half-scaled replica of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer, a fan-built film replica of the interior of the Millennium Falcon and a fan-built Rey’s Speeder autographed film director by J.J. Abrams.
For the first time ever, STGCC is hosting the Good Game Experience (GGXP)​, offering gaming fans an exhilarating programme of entertainment and tournaments. Taking up an entire exhibition hall, GGXP features a host of local and regional game publishers – supporting and celebrating their love for games, and honouring outstanding Indie Game Developers through the Good Game Awards (GGA) 2017​.
The convention will be headlined by renowned illustrator and animator Hiro Kanzaki​ (JP)​, making STGCC his first ever convention outside Japan. Other international star attendees include beloved cosplay stars Iori Moe​ (JP)​ and Siu Tao (HK), ​returning fan favourites such as Marvel comic book artist, Adi Granov​ (US),​ rising star and DC Comics artist, Mirka Andolfo​ (IT)​, and American comic book writer and artist David Mack​ (US). Send your kid to Southeast Asia’s first ever Padawan Training at Orchard Road. Meant for young Padawans age 4 – 12, the 30 minute session is conducted by a Jedi Master and will equip your kid with the necessary skill to fight a Sith Lord.

The Padawan training is happening at ION Orchard outdoor event space at level 1. There will be 12 sessions daily from 3pm to 8:30pm. So send your kid to Padawan training this school holiday.

The Force is strong with Gardens By The Bay this weekend with the Star Wars Day: May the 4th be with you Festival happening. Expect fan-led themed activities, Meet and Greets with STAR WARS characters, and a multi-sensory music and lights extravaganza for fans of all ages.

The Marina Bay skyline will be illuminated by South East Asia’s largest lightsaber installation as the Garden’s Supertree transforms into giant lightsabers that cast light beams up to 200m high.
Remember to check out Garden Rhapsody: STAR WARS Edition from now till 2 June at 7.45pm and 8.45pm every night (additional 9.45pm shows on 4 to 6 May). Set against an epic STAR WARS soundtrack, expect lighting composition inspired from scenes such as Luke’s landing in Dagobah, leading to his first meeting with Yoda; the first appearance of Darth Vader with his light saber and even the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan on Mustafar.

Catch Chewbacca and Kylo Ren making their first appearance in South East Asia. And don’t miss the special appearance by 501st Legion Singapore Garrison, Rebel Legion and FightSaber. Get up close and personal the iconic AT-ST (All-Terrain Scout Transport) at the Supertree Grove.


The fun doesn’t stop this weekend. The Star Wars Day: May the 4th be with you Festival kicks off a three-year collaboration between Singapore Tourism Board and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia. Star Wars fans can expect more unique STAR WARS experiences held in Singapore in the second half of 2017.

From August 31st to September 10th, look forward to even more galactic excitement at Orchard Road with STAR WARS Force Friday II, a global fan event celebrating the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
